Olivia Perry and McCrae Best will receive funding for their studies into strokes

Two master’s students at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador are among the 15 Indigenous researchers across Canada to receive the Heart & Stroke Indigenous Personnel Award.

Olivia Perry and McCrae Best received the inaugural award, which was given to the best 15 Indigenous researchers in the country for their research on heart and brain health.

“We’ve gone through a lot of changes as an organization over the last few years, as many charities have,” explained Katie Greene, Heart & Stroke’s senior vice president for Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
