Request for Applications – Inuit connection and access to the Torngat Mountains National Park Pilot Project at the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station
The Department of Language, Culture and Tourism is looking for an application within Nunatsiavut (Nain, Hopedale, Rigolet, Makkovik, Postville, Rigolet) for a family of five to attend the Inuit connection and access to the Torngat Mountains National Park Pilot Project at the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station for the 2022 season.
Applicants must submit a completed application by July 4, 2022 by 4:00 PM AST to the Department. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please submit your application to your community Liaison Officer or directly to:

About the project:
This is a pilot project initiative by Parks Canada in partnership with the Nunatsiavut Government. The goal of the project is to enable Nunavik and Nunatsiavut Inuit Beneficiaries to reconnect with their homeland and provide opportunities to understand how to make the park a living, vibrant Inuit homeland that is meaningful in the present and the future. The following are specific to the project:
- intended to provide funding for 10 Beneficiaries (five Nunatsiavut, five Nunavik) to explore the park and connect at the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station during its operational season for a one-week period;
- ideally the participants would have a strong connection and interest to their homeland and whose insights will enhance future programming and discussions.
Family Application:
Looking for a family application of five people. The family make-up can be from grandparents, sister, cousin, father, uncle, aunt etc.
Date of Inuit Connection and access to the Torngat Mountains National Park Pilot Project:
The program dates are for one week July 23 – 30, 2022.
Applicants:
The pilot program welcomes applications from each of five Nunatsiavut’s constituencies as follows:
Nain;
Hopedale;
Makkovik;
Postville;
and Rigolet.
Beneficiaries will be selected on the merit of their applications. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
