Rapid Lynx provides an Update on Progress on Phases 1 and 2 Broadband Project and Attends Indigenous Connectivity Summit

TelecommunicationsMEMBERTOU,NS: (RLT) backbone network on April 30, 2023—RLT is providing a further update on the progress of the broadband project that began construction in 20201. The network will be the only long-haul fibre optic network in Ontario’s Far North, and it will be 100% owned, controlled, and operated by the Matawa First Nations.
To-date, the following has been completed in Phase 1:
70% – including consults, engineering, and construction
To-date, the following has been completed in Phase 2:
35% – including consults, engineering, and construction
A further update on RLT’s progress will be made at Matawa First Nation Management’s 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) taking place in Neskantaga First Nation from July 31 – August 1, 2024 (the AGM will also be livestreamed).
This week, RLT will be participating with other Indigenous broadband companies from both Canada and the United States at the Indigenous Connectivity Summit in Membertou, Nova Scotia including a panel discussion this morning.
