Public Advisory: Temporary Air Services in Effect for Fogo Island and Change Islands

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that contingency air services are in place for ferry users of Fogo Island and Change Islands while repairs are carried out to the MV Veteran. The vessel experienced a mechanical issue yesterday morning (Monday, February 1). The timeline for completion of the repair work is still being determined.

Air services will follow the process and schedule below.

Fixed Wing Service
Flights from Fogo Island will depart from the Fogo Island airstrip, and flights from Gander will originate from the Gander International Airport. Provincial Airlines has been contracted to provide the service with the following departure times:

7:30 a.m.	8:15 a.m.
9:00 a.m.	9:45 a.m.
10:30 a.m.	11:15 a.m.
12:00 p.m.	12:45 p.m.
1:30 p.m.	2:15 p.m.
3:00 p.m.	3:45 p.m.
4:30 p.m.	5:15 p.m.
6:00 p.m.	6:45 p.m.

Travellers should contact Provincial Airlines directly by calling 1-800-563-2800 to make a reservation.

Helicopter Air Service
Helicopter service will operate on an as-needed basis from Farewell between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.

Reservations can be made by calling 709-884-7971 or 709-541-7005.

Passengers will be charged the standard walk-on passenger fare for both fixed wing and helicopter services.
