The Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable Scott Reid, Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation, extend warm congratulations to Chief Eugene Hart and the Council of the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation.

The following individuals were declared elected following an election on August 21:

  • Chief: Eugene Hart
  • Councillors:
  • Female – Karen Penunsi, Laureen Ashini, Felicia Nuna
  • Female Elder – Mary Rose Selma
  • Male – Michel Nuna, Daniel Pinette, Darren McKay
  • Male Elder – Etienne Pone

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador thanks outgoing Chief Etienne Rich and members of Council for their contributions during their term in office. The Provincial Government extends appreciation to all individuals who offered themselves as candidates in the election.
