Northwestel drops the price on Internet over usage; introduces new DSL usage blocks
WHITEHORSE, YT – Today, Northwestel announced 2 important changes to its Internet usage framework to help customers save money.
Beginning February 1, the cost of Internet over usage will be dropped by 50¢ per gigabyte (GB) on non-satellite packages – a savings up to 25% for those who use a little extra in a month. Northwestel is also introducing flexible usage blocks for DSL customers who find themselves in at the top of their limit at the end of the month.
“These changes will mean more money in the bank for our most active customers,” said Curtis Shaw, Vice President of Residential Markets. “We know our customers want more affordable options for getting the most out of their Internet. We’ve listened and today we’re acting to make our usage fees cheaper, and for DSL customers, more flexible.”
More affordable over usage charge
Since 2011, Northwestel has reduced its over usage charge 5 times as part of its commitment to provide the highest possible value for its customers. Northwestel has dropped these charges from an average of $10 per GB to as low a $1.50 for Internet 100 and 125 customers. Residential and business customers will see the new reduced usage charge reflected automatically on their bill for February usage.
Flexible DSL usage blocks
For residential DSL Internet customers who find themselves in need of more every month, Northwestel is also introducing additional usage blocks. You can now add 50 GB per month of usage to your package for $40.00 per month. Available in communities across Yukon, Northwest Territories and Northern British Columbia, these additional usage blocks allow you to get more from your Northwestel Internet every month, while avoiding overage costs.
“These flexible usage blocks give you the opportunity to do more of what you love at a great value, whether you’re connecting with family and friends online, catching up on news or streaming movies and music,” added Shaw.
For customers already subscribing to the fastest DSL Internet package available at their address, additional usage blocks can help accommodate long-term guests, a growing household or simply a need for more gigabytes at a reliable monthly price.
