FREDERICTON (GNB) – As the province celebrates a strong year for tourism, two New Brunswick businesses have been presented with Canadian Tourism Awards.

Elsipogtog First Nation won the Indigenous Tourism Award while Saint John’s Area 506 Waterfront Container Village won Innovator of the Year honours during a recent ceremony organized by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

Be Rad Adventure Co. of Saint John, Euston Park of Moncton, Kingsbrae Garden of Saint Andrews and FOUR Nature Resort of Chelmsford were also finalists for national awards.

“I am very proud of the winners and all the finalists,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “Our province is finishing a year where we experienced a surge in visitation. Tourism operators like these show the world why there is no better place to be than here in New Brunswick.”

New Brunswick recorded strong tourism numbers during 2022. As of Sept. 1, total room sales in the province had increased to 1,105,674 compared to 707,386 over the same period in 2021. Visitation from across Canada and international markets has also increased substantially.

“The world is coming to New Brunswick,” said Scott-Wallace. “We have so much to offer.”
