FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) welcomed Rachel Gillespie as the new Vice President – Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement on April 19, 2016.

Through her experiences as Director of Student Services at Cambrian College, a former College instructor at George Brown College, and a senior leader in a number of health and social services organizations in Ontario, Rachel has successfully led significant strategic change initiatives.

Her most recent success was leading Cambrian College’s one-of-a-kind strategic planning initiative from concept to delivery. Through her leadership, more than 9,500 engagements were captured using a multi-faceted engagement strategy – online platforms, social media and innovative in-person events – with a focus on student, parent, alumni, staff, Aboriginal, industry and community stakeholder involvement.

Rachel brings experience and skill in the implementation of performance measures, delivery-of-service standards and operational management efficiencies. She is a respected and influential strategic leader with a track record for raising the bar in terms of personnel development, innovative engagement strategies and mutually beneficial community partnerships.

Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University in New Orange, New Jersey.

She was actively involved in her community as a member of the Board of Directors of Community Living in Greater Sudbury and as a volunteer at Genevra House, a home for abused women.

The role of Vice-President – Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement is an evolution of the former Vice-President of College and Community Development role. It is a recognition that NBCC’s future sustainability and vitality depend on our strategic and entrepreneurial spirit and know-how – on our ability to innovatively seize opportunities and nurture relationships to make extraordinary things happen for students and our communities.
