MUN’s Faculty of Medicine announces Pre-Med Summer Institute
31 March 2016
The Pre-Med Summer Institute is an intensive, non-credit program offered for three weeks (July 3-23, 2016) to pre-medical students. The institute is jointly sponsored by the MUN Faculty of Medicine and the Labrador-Grenfell Health Authority. Co-support is provided by the following Aboriginal groups: Innu Nation of Labrador, Miawpukek First Nation, Nunatsiavut, NunatuKavut and the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band.
The institute provides experience in a clinical environment for selected candidates who are serious about pursuing a career in medicine and who wish to apply for admission to the Memorial University Faculty of Medicine. For three weeks, the successful candidates will be placed in the Labrador Health Centre, Happy Valley-Goose Bay. During that time they will interact with physicians, medical residents and medical students and learn about various aspects of the medical profession.
The Pre-Med Summer Institute was launched in May-June 2011.
Please Note: This is a pre-medicine experience. Institute participants are not medical students. Successful admittance and participation in this program does not guarantee that the student will be accepted for the medicine program at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
