MUN Labrador Campus to Offer First Undergraduate Program – VOCM
Apr 16, 2024
The first undergraduate program at Memorial University’s Labrador Campus will accept its first cohorts this September.
The Bachelor of Arctic and Subarctic Interdisciplinary Studies Program was created to enhance undergraduate education in Labrador that is northern-based, northern focused and Indigenous-led.
The BASIS Program will follow a unique learning structure. Instead of semester-based courses, students will participate in two six-week interdisciplinary modules each semester, with a one-week break in between.
After completing 12 required modules, most students will finish their program in three to three and a half years.
Vice-provost and dean of the School of Arctic and Subarctic Studies, Dr. Ashlee Cunsolo, says launching the new program was key to growing the Labrador Campus.
