Mi’kmaq Legends – BUZZon

by ahnationtalk on March 1, 2016400 Views

From their first performance in 2011, Mi’kmaq Legends has grown and attracted audiences from across Prince Edward Island and beyond. The troupe has become over the years, a professional-calibre theatre production both provincially and nationally. Mi’kmaq Legends is an ever evolving theatre production where youth use acting, story telling, music, dance and visual arts to bring authentic Mi’kmaq legends to life on stage. Mi’kmaq Legends is Atlantic Canada’s only Aboriginal theatre group.

The behind the scenes crew has grown in number as well; from five to thirteen and includes ages from six to forty five. Julie Pellissier-Lush, writer, actor and “Mama Bear” of the group gives credit to Ron Zakar, Betty Gordon, Sherri Barett (the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI) plus creative folks and directors, Cathy Elliot, Richard Pellissier-Lush, Laurel Smyth, Morgan Varis and Laura Bird for the success of the group.Source: BUZZon.com
