BISHOP’S FALLS, N.L. —

The Exploits River Motel is under new ownership.

This is after the Miawpukek First Nation completed its purchase of the central Newfoundland hotel and the adjacent land. The sale became final earlier this week.

The hotel has 24 rooms and a full-service restaurant.

“The purchase of the Exploits River Motel is an exciting step in the right direction for Miawpukek First Nation as it relates to economic development,” Miawpukek First Nation’s Chief Misel Joe said in a prepared statement.

The Exploits River Motel is a key acquisition for the Conne River-based first nation as it is located on the corner of the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Bay d’Espoir Highway.
