Message from Chief Terry Paul

September 26, 2022
Good afternoon Membertou,

I hope that you are all doing well under the circumstances that Hurricane Fiona brought our way.

While some of us in Membertou have power, most of the CBRM is without power and long delays are expected before many get power back. Our region remains under a local state of emergency and because of this, the Membertou Band Office and associated facilities will be remaining closed under the state of emergency.

I do ask that those who can work from home, please do so. Anyone who is without power, and would like to access their office, please feel free to do so. We want to give our staff options in this difficult time of restoration after the storm.

I want to thank all our frontline workers and management teams, along with our EMO group for their work around the clock during the hurricane. From gas necessities, to evacuee site set-up, to food & beverage, and community warming centers… Your work is very appreciated.

Our community comes together in times of need, and Hurricane Fiona is no exception. Thank you all.

Take care, and we will provide more information as it’s available.
Wela’lioq,
Chief Terry
