SACKVILLE, NB, May 1, 2019 – Atlantic Canada’s largest KAIROS Blanket Exercise, and a celebration of arts and activism with a Colombian activist will highlight the first May weekend at Mount Allison University. These events are open to all and are part of Streams of Justice: KAIROS Atlantic Gathering 2019, held May 2-5 at Mount Allison University.

KAIROS Canada presents two exciting events this weekend: A Feast for Justice: Celebrating Arts and Activism the evening of May 3 with Kelly Campo of Organización Feminina Popular (OFP), Colombia – a KAIROS Partner; and a Mass KAIROS Blanket Exercise, the afternoon of May 4.

Streams of Justice joins activists of all ages in Atlantic Canada to help build the Atlantic ecumenical social justice movement, increasing participation, diversity, effectiveness and commitment.

Mass KAIROS Blanket Exercise

The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is a powerful participatory history lesson of Canada told from the perspective of Indigenous peoples. It is a visual and experiential representation of colonization in Canada. This really big Blanket Exercise is a coming together of hearts and minds in a collective commitment to build reconciliation based on justice for Indigenous peoples. It will be the largest of its kind in Atlantic Canada. Elder Donna Augustine will lead the opening prayer and drum song.

Saturday, May 4; 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Mount Allison University, Athletic Centre: 62 York St, Sackville, N.B.
