A Labrador trade show returns to St. John’s today to highlight economic opportunities in the Big Land.
The big one — especially with high iron ore prices having dropped dramatically since the Northern Exposure trade show and conference was held at the Delta Hotel in January 2013 — is the $7-billion Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project.
“The last time we did this, the project wasn’t yet sanctioned,” said Sterling Peyton, chairman of the conference and the Labrador North Chamber of Commerce. “But now it has been, it’s under construction up there, and one of the big sessions will be a complete update as to what’s going on on the project.”
Aboriginal procurement and joint venturing with aboriginal companies will also be among the topics under discussion, said Peyton.
