Indigenous students from Newfoundland guaranteed spaces in Saskatchewan law school – The Lawyer’s Daily

Two Indigenous students from Newfoundland and Labrador who haven’t even started law school yet won’t have to worry about obtaining future articling positions thanks to a new program being developed by the provincial government, Indigenous governments based in the province and the University of Saskatchewan.

Under the trilateral partnership, the university’s college of law is creating two new spots specifically for these students. The Indigenous governments will encourage applicants to apply for the spots and will provide the funding to pay for the program. The Department of Justice and Public Safety in Newfoundland will offer articling positions to the students upon graduation.

The students will be subjected to the same entrance requirements and standards as any other applicants.
