Indigenous software tester training program launches fourth class in Fredericton
Fredericton, NB (October 15, 2019) – PLATO Testing is proud to announce that the fourth PLATO training course to be offered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, launched today in collaboration with their partners, PQA Testing and the Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI).
The class will train Indigenous students in software testing over the next six months. The in-class training will be followed by paid internships at leading companies like Suncor, and guaranteed full-time jobs with PLATO Testing offered to those who complete the program.
PLATO partners with Indigenous organizations, local communities, governments and educational institutions to deliver tailored software testing training, which has been certified by Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, to Indigenous people across the country.
PLATO is addressing Canada’s tech talent shortage by building a network of Indigenous software testers. It has rapidly become Canada’s largest Indigenous-led, Indigenous-staffed technology services company, providing competitive near-shore testing solutions to clients throughout North America.
“We started PLATO in the Fredericton area, and are always happy to see this community growing,” said PLATO Testing founder Keith McIntosh. “We currently have more than 50 PLATO employees who are doing tremendous work for our clients across Canada. These graduates are an excellent example of how the PLATO training program can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Together, PQA and PLATO are on a mission to break down barriers to Indigenous participation in the technology sector by training and employing 1000 Indigenous software testers in 20 communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast, in partnership with Canada’s leading corporations.
