It’s been on the street, at the Cunard Centre and on the waterfront, but this year Word on the Street is hanging out at the library.
Facing a funding crunch, the festival has been edited somewhat this year but still promises to deliver the best in Atlantic Canadian literature.
Lesley Dunn, board chairwoman, said the venue change marks a return to its roots for the festival, which grew up on Spring Garden Road 20 years ago.
“Certainly, a reduction in funding caused us to think more creatively about where we were going to be and how we were going to reduce some of our costs,” Dunn said.
