MONCTON, N.B. – The Government of New Brunswick has launched Skill Trades NB, a new department that serves as a replacement and rebranding of its previous apprenticeship and certification branch.
Skilled Trades NB will oversee the administration and promotion of skilled trades and apprenticeships in the province, with the rebrand supporting a renewed interested in these sectors.
This interest includes a 20 per cent increase in registered apprentices, a 77 per cent increase in women apprentices and a 68 per cent increase in Indigenous apprentices across the province since 2019-20.
According to the Government of New Brunswick, Skilled Trades NB will “continue to support the development of a diverse skilled trades workforce by delivering an inclusive apprenticeship training program.”
This program includes two-, three- and four-year programs that feature mentorship and on-site experience in relevant industries, in addition to classroom learning.
