Funding increased for Community Investment Fund
15 February 2024
FREDERICTON– The provincial government is investing more in a fund supporting community-based not-for-profits that deliver programs and services, as well as festivals and events. Money provided through the Community Investment Fund will increase by $3.7 million over the next three years.
“The Community Investment Fund has been a successful program, having funded 2,200 projects since 2019,” said Réjean Savoie, minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “This fund has supported legions, Lions clubs, Boys and Girls clubs and community food banks throughout the province, as just a few examples. The enhancements we are making demonstrate how our government is committed to continuing to build vibrant and sustainable communities.”
Since 2019, each of the 49 provincial electoral districts has been assigned a maximum allocation of $50,000 each fiscal year. This amount will increase to $65,000 in 2024-25, $70,000 in 2025-26 and $75,000 in 2026-27.
In addition to the increase in these allocations, the Regional Development Corporation is increasing the level to which a single project can be funded, and funding for First Nations community cultural events will now be distributed through this program.
Application forms and the updated Community Investment Fund guidelines are available online.
