On behalf of the Nunatsiavut Government and Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement, President Johannes Lampe today extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Elias Tuglavina, who passed away on December 7 – just one day shy of his 76th birthday.

Born in Hebron, Mr. Tuglavina was relocated to Makkovik and later moved to Nain, where he played an active role in the early days of the Labrador Inuit Association, serving as Vice-President from 1980-1983. He was an accomplished musician, and often played at social events in his community.

“Jerry, as most people called him, was a fixture in Nain and throughout Nunatsiavut who was admired by many,” says President Lampe. “While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life that was well-lived. He will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.”
