Federal election results advisory – CP

EDITORS: On Monday, October 19, voters go to the polls in the federal election.

All election stories from The Canadian Press that day will continue to be available on the National (G) and Regional wires, with Premium content available to premium subscribers. However, note that all federal election results and tests will be found on the “Y” wire for special events.

Results tests, which help gauge the overall length and format of the complete results on election night, will be scheduled to begin the week of October 5 (exact start date TBD). The tests will move at approximately noon Eastern time and will be repeated daily until election day. Please watch for updated advisories.

The Canadian Press election night results service will include the following items:

For newspapers:

— National standings every 20 minutes after polls close

— National party vote totals with percentages every 30 minutes after polls close

— Members elected advisories when ridings are declared elected by The Canadian Press decision team

— Prominents reports, showing how prominent candidates are doing in the voting, every 45 minutes throughout the evening

— Lists of available riding results will move hourly, beginning at approximately 7 p.m. ET from Newfoundland, and will continue until results from across the country are complete for the night

Poll Closing Times:

Polls across the country close at the following times (all times Eastern):

Newfoundland 7 p.m.

Atlantic 7:30 p.m.

Eastern 9:30 p.m.

Central & Mountain 9:30 p.m.

Pacific 10 p.m.
