The MLA for Gjoa Haven says the community is trying to heal following the death of a baby on July 4 which is under investigated by both the department of health and the coroner’s office.
“The community as usual is always coming together, they seem to be doing OK right now,” said Tony Akoak.
A funeral has already been held and the department of health has flown in three counsellors to help anyone who needs to talk.
“The people directly affected — they’ve been talking to them and helping them out and also anyone who needs to speak to them was invited to go to their sessions,” said Akoak.
