Community hall will hopefully be built by mid-fall, says We’koqma’q chief – 101.5FM

The chief of the We’koqma’q First Nation says people in his community have been making do since the community centre was lost to a fire.
The structure, built in 1967, was destroyed in a fire on Dec. 28; no one was injured in the blaze.
Chief Rod Googoo says construction on a replacement hall and fire hall is now underway.
Googoo tells The Hawk people have been getting by without the community centre.
“We manage, you know, it’s a struggle,” he says, “but you always persevere.”
Googoo says the grand opening will hopefully take place in mid-fall.
