City of Saint John: City to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday

The City of Saint John will be recognizing the federally proclaimed National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 as a statutory holiday for municipal employees.

By marking National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, City employees will have an opportunity to honour the day, and reflect on its importance to the country’s past, present, and future.  Flags at City Hall will be lowered to half-mast on September 30 in special acknowledgment.

City hours and service schedules for Thursday, September 30 will be as follows:

City Hall, Rothesay Avenue and Adelaide Street offices: Closed

City Hall Customer Service Centre: Closed

Saint John City Market: Closed

Saint John Transit: Will follow its regular schedules.

City parks, playgrounds, and other greenspaces: Will remain open.

Recreational Facilities: Confirmed bookings at City ball fields and tennis courts will be honoured. The Peter Murray Arena is being operated by The Lord Beaverbrook Rink. Inquiries about this facility should be directed to 652-6710.

Community Centres (Carleton & Nick Nicolle): Closed

Garbage and compost collection: Will follow its regular schedule.

All emergency services will be fully operational and available.
