FREDERICTON _ The City of Fredericton has reached a new collective agreement with its firefighters’ union.
The new contract, approved by council Monday night, includes a 13.4 per cent wage increase over 4.5 years.
Firefighters will also see their Benefit Spending Allowance increased to $200 biweekly from $175.
City staff say the parties negotiated the contract in 3.5 days using the interest-based negotiation process and a facilitator from the provincial government.
This new contract will end on Dec. 31, 2019.
The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1053 represents about 103 employees.
