SYDNEY — Mayor Cecil Clarke is expected to announce next week what is being billed as “good news” on port development in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

The mayor is on vacation, but his Twitter account has advertised a lunch event at the Holiday Inn in Sydney on Wednesday, with tickets costing $34.50, where he will announce “positive change” for the region.

The mayor’s spokeswoman, Christina Lamey, said she couldn’t reveal what will be announced, “but he is going to share what I would describe as some good news for the city.

“He’s going to introduce new partners involved with the port, and provide some information and progress on some of our development files. It’s definitely going to have some meat to it — a lot of really good things coming up.”
