Support announced for world-class snowmobile endurance race in Labrador

As snowmobilers start their journey in Cain’s Quest, a week long competitive world-class endurance race that travels across Labrador, Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced a $70,000 contribution from the Government of Canada to offset the costs of marketing and hosting the event.  Now in its 10th year, the race spans more than 3,500 kilometres of Labrador’s scenic landscape, includes multiple checkpoints along the way and has 37 registered teams of snowmobile enthusiasts from both near and far, including a first time team from Finland.

Tourism is a growing industry that makes a significant contribution to Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy.  High quality tourism initiatives and attractions like Cain’s Quest that appeal to national and international visitors are economic generators for local communities and can also increase the possibility of return visits.

The visitation and exposure that Cain’s Quest will bring to national and international audiences is expected to foster tourism growth in Labrador by increasing awareness of the region for visitors. The Government of Canada investment also enables Cain’s Quest Inc. to build on the competitive advantages of communities along the route and will benefit local businesses in the region.

Quotes:
