PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. – Nova Scotia is funding a new immigrant settlement officer in Cape Breton to help people new to the province.

It is using 290-thousand dollars to expand a Y-M-C-A program and provide a full-time settlement officer in Port Hawkesbury.

Energy Minister Michel Samson says the program offers one-on-one settlement service counselling.

The additional funding will increase the number of settlement workers to nine throughout the province.

It will also be used for a new, full-time manager of child and youth services programming.
