Applications Being Accepted for Seniors’ Social Inclusion Initiative
April 30, 2025
The Honourable Paul Pike, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, is announcing a call for applications for the 2025-26 Seniors’ Social Inclusion Initiative. This program reflects the Provincial Government’s continued commitment to create a more inclusive and age-friendly Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Seniors’ Social Inclusion Initiative supports seniors’ and senior-serving organizations across Newfoundland and Labrador to organize and promote activities and programs that support social inclusion, healthy aging, mental wellness, and overall well-being.
In 2025-26, grants are available in the amount of $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be based in Newfoundland and Labrador and funding must be used for projects in this province.
- Be a not-for-profit organization that serves seniors and older adults. Applications from individuals, for-profit organizations and organizations that are not focused on serving seniors will not be considered.
- If incorporated, be in good standing with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s registry of companies.
- If not incorporated, provide a letter of support as outlined in the program guidelines.
In 2024-25, 174 organizations received funding through the Seniors’ Social Inclusion Initiative.
Further details on last year’s recipients can be found in the backgrounder below.

Quotes
“We are focused on supporting healthy aging by providing the necessary support for seniors to remain active members of their communities, maintain their independence and quality of life, and age with dignity. The Seniors’ Social Inclusion Initiative helps build a more inclusive and age-friendly province and I encourage all eligible organizations to apply.”
Honourable Paul Pike
Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development
“As president of the Newfoundland and Labrador 50+ Federation, whose member clubs often avail of this program, I see the value of these grants in helping organizations engage with seniors and encourage meaningful social interactions. As a member of individual organizations that have received funding in past years, I can personally attest to the very positive impact this funding program has on individual seniors and the communities in which they live.”
