Alan Syliboy assumes position of Coady Institute Chair
MILLBROOK – Alan Syliboy has become the first painter, first Nova Scotian and first aboriginal person to hold the Coady Chair in Social Justice.
Syliboy, who is also a musician and filmmaker, will hold the position, at St. Francis Xavier University, for a year.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Syliboy. “I think it’s a great opportunity. It’s a chance to get a consensus from the Mi’ kmaq nation and address issues that should be addressed right away. I want to find out what the issues are and find ways to work them into art.
