Two years ago, Membertou led the single largest investment an Indigenous group in Canada has ever made into the Canadian fishery – its 50% acquisition of Clearwater Seafoods.

Clearwater Seafoods is one of North America’s largest Integrated scafood companies and its reach s global.In the first year, Membertou worked alongside Clearwater to ensure a successful transition of ownership has taken place. Many great things continued happening the year after – namely gaining about 50 Indigenous employees through the company’s Indigenous Employment Officer,Jenny Morgan, who oversees employment functions. This has been their first step In ensuring Memberiou’s representation of Clearwater, and Jobs continue becoming avatlable for Indigenous Peoples even today.

Financially, Clearwater Seafoods had a strong (wo years, and as we continue (0 pay down our investment, the return 1o the community wil generate stabiliy for us.
