Michipicoten First Nation has several seasonal employment opportunities available for Indigenous Youth. Successful candidates will receive hands on training and guidance while gaining valuable work experience.
Dates of employment:
July 5, 2021 – August 27, 2021
Post-Secondary (College or University) or Secondary Student Applicants between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and legally entitled to work in Canada.
GROUNDS CREW – GENERAL LABOURER (4 positions)
The grounds crew will provide general clean-up and maintenance throughout the community including the landfill site, graveyard, and beach. This may include, garbage collection, repairs to fencing and grave marker, lawn cutting, collecting, and distributing firewood.
Requirements: Ability to perform outdoor physical labour
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS (3 positions)
Administrative Assistants will provide support within the Band Office, Health Centre, and Lands Department. Duties may include research, archiving files, preparing ads, completing reports, equipment/supply inventories, shredding documents, program delivery, schedule meetings, take minutes.
Requirements: Proficiency with MS Office programs
HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (1 position)
The HR Administrative Assistant will provide support with recruitment and onboarding, coordination of student training & mentorship, tracking student attendance, preparing reports, and assisting with general HR administrative tasks.
Requirements: Proficiency with MS Office programs, professionalism, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Enrollment in a Human Resource or business program would be considered an asset. The successful candidate for this role may start prior to July 5.
