This is a designated position open to candidates who identify from the Mi’kmaw or Indigenous community. Preference will be given to Mi’kmaw applicants.
The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on twelve steps that range from $62,382.29 – $87,211.36. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $74,891.37 annually

What you will be doing…
The project coordinator will report to the Manager of the Mi’kmaw and Indigenous Practical Nursing Cohort, and will be responsible for:
- You will be responsible for project coordination within the School of Health and Human Services for the new Mi’kmaw and Indigenous Practical Nursing Cohort.
- This role includes relationship building, communication, collaboration, and support for the cohort mobilization, activities and supports for all facets of student engagement and project coordination, ie. triaging student concerns, planning, development, implementation, problem solving, accurate and timely communication, timelines, reporting, evaluation with multiple and diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- This position will include support for emerging initiatives related to the Mi’kmaw and Indigenous Practical Nursing Cohort.
What you’ll need
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field such as Adult Education, Education, Indigenous Studies, Social Science, or a Health Discipline. Experience in educational supports, program planning and evaluation, community engagement, and Project Management Certification will be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- You have a minimum of five (5) years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the development, planning, marketing, delivery and evaluation of projects, or the recognized equivalencies.
- Your occupational experience includes working in an environment, delivering services that assist individuals in addressing barriers related to education, training and/or work.
- Experience and knowledge of Mi’kmaw or Indigenous community health and wellness strengths and challenges
- Experience working directly with and/or supporting Mi’kmaw or Indigenous communities.
- Demonstrated experience with Mi’kmaw language, culture, and traditions.
- Knowledge and understanding of the unique experiences and barriers of Indigenous students.
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, with strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- You work well independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.
- Strong resiliency skills for observing, listening, and reading difficult information which deals with historical and intergenerational trauma and colonialism.
- Create professional learning strategies that inherently bring community members, educators, and students together.
- You possess research skills with the proven ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to propose recommendations for future programming.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Video Conferencing
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
- You have experience in supporting training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a two-year (part-time) adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees.
