NPAAMB is currently seeking:

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR
Contract Full-time Position: (40 Hours per week; until March 31, 2021 with possibility of extension)

Location:    50 Generations Drive, Ohsweken, Ontario

NPAAMB in a joint effort with our training partners will facilitate the training of Indigenous youth in hospitality and tourism, healthcare, building and construction trades and life skills development as part of our core delivery of programs. All courses offered are rooted in cultural foundations and Indigenous contexts.

Under the direction of the NPAAMB Director of Finance, the Payroll Clerk will be primarily responsible for maintaining, verifying and processing payroll information. Payroll Clerk must have strong technical skills, including proficiency with automated payroll processing services. The payroll Clerk Prepares and verifies statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishees and insurance and pension plans

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • College diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 1-3 Years’ experience in Finance role with bookkeeping functions
  • Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Bondable
  • Above average working knowledge and proficiency with Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within southern Ontario on regular basis to other office locations
  • Payroll administrators usually need at least two years of payroll experience and a college diploma. The Canadian Payroll Association’s Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) accreditation can be an asset. Payroll administrators also should possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • understanding of basic accounting principles
  • understanding of internal controls
  • knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations and requirements

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collect, compile and enter payroll data using appropriate software
  • review and verify source documents
  • calculate and post payroll deductions
  • process payroll by established deadlines
  • issue statements of earnings and deductions
  • reconcile employee deductions
  • investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
  • update payroll records by recording changes including insurance coverage, loan payments, salary increases
  • process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
  • prepare and print payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, taxes, insurance, leave
  • address employee’s pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
  • complete requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications
  • produce federal, state and local tax payments
  • develop, manage and maintain comprehensive payroll records
  • ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
