Responsibilities

  • Implement projects identified in the “Improving public-private collaboration to sustain a remote Indigenous tourism venture: The case of Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station in Nunatsiavut” report;
  • Liaise with various departments within Nunatsiavut Government and external stakeholders, partners and contracted operator of the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station;
  • Facilitate consistent communications between all parties involved in the operations of Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station and programs in Hebron;
  • Contract Management for the operations at Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station and any programs in Hebron;
  • Develop proposals to secure external funding for any programming at the Torngat Mountains National Park Research Centre and Base Camp and in Hebron, as well as necessary report writing;
  • Provide supervision and oversight for the Youth Leadership and Hebron Ambassador and Restoration Programs;
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station and Hebron Ambassador and Restoration Programs;
  • Support budget development and ensure expenditures are within budget;
  • Lead year-round marketing efforts for Torngat Mountains Research Centre and Base Camp and Hebron;
  • Provide written communications, reports and presentations on the Torngat Mountains Research Centre and Base Camp and on programs in Hebron as required;
  • Provide regular updates to Director of Tourism on activities and performance of Torngat Mountains Research Centre and Base Camp and in Hebron;
  • Develop strong community relationships and partnerships to support programming and events;
  • Practicing and ensuring adhere to NG’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and protocols at work sites
  • Travel will be required
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in business management or tourism management with 5-10 years of related experience. A combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered;
  • Ability to assume responsibility, prioritize and meet deadlines, handle multiple and varied tasks;
  • Excellent written and analytical skills including report and proposal writing;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;

Assets

  • Beneficiary of the Labrador Inuit Land Claim Agreement;
  • Ability to speak and understand Inuktitut
  • Experience working in northern and Indigenous communities
  • Experience working in remote, northern land-based programming
