Position Summary:

Communication skills are probably the single most important skill required to be successful in any type of relationship. This course will provide an introduction to research and theories in the field of Interpersonal Communications and how this information relates to individuals in contemporary society. In addition, the course focuses on building and enhancing your knowledge in the kinds of communications skills that employers expect. Cross-listed with MB109.

*This course has multiple sections and a common course outline. This course will be coordinated. All instructors will be required to follow a proposed course outline.

Qualifications – Required: Master’s Degree

Qualifications – Other: PhD Preferred; Discipline: Leadership Focused (e.g. Leadership Studies, Organizational Leadership), Communication Studies. Prior university-level teaching in the area of communication skills.

Salary: Online Learning Stipend $5082

Courses posted with the letters “OC” following the course number, are designated Online Courses. If the posting is absent of “OC” it is a course normally taught on campus, but during COVID-19 this course may be taught remotely. Courses created specifically for online instruction have been collaboratively designed by a content expert (normally a faculty member) and an instructional designer and digital media and educational technology specialists. Online course development is guided by instructional design strategies and makes use of pedagogically led technology. Online courses are intentionally developed for instructors and students to be separated by space (location) and/or time (often both).

Remote instruction, as the term is used here, uses technology-enabled tools and software to facilitate course delivery when in-person instruction is not possible in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Remote” instruction is not directly comparable to “online course” instruction. The difference is not in the quality of the content, but in the design of content delivery.
