They are currently seeking a professional, creative, highly skilled and experienced individual to assume the exciting and rewarding position of Director, Planning and Development. The primary responsibilities include directing the Planning, Lands and Inspections Divisions for the City of Yellowknife. This position reports directly to the City Administrator and forms part of the City’s senior leadership team.
Candidates will bring senior management experience preferably in a municipal government and have at minimum an undergraduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). Knowledge of municipal government, thorough knowledge of the National Building Code, land-use planning principles and real property law are assets. The successful candidate must also possess a leadership presence, have excellent communication skills so that they can support Council, and Committees and engage with the public. The incumbent is required to exercise a high degree of objectivity, discretion and judgment in decision making.
