Job Title: Bar Manager

Terms of Employment: 30-40 hours per week, full-time, permanent

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Wage: $15.38 to $20.38 per hour (Depending on experience)

Job Duties:

  • Analyze budget to boost and maintain the restaurant’s profits – including reviewing and analyzing the Inventory Sales Report to know what products are the restaurant’s best sellers
  • Develop a budget to determine the cost of food, ingredients, alcohol, kitchen and cleaning supplies (For example, beer and Red Bull)
  • Evaluate daily operations including Communicating with back-of-house staff to ensure that all employees receive information on the daily menu, including the daily special, for presenting to customers
  • Modify food preparation methods and menu prices according to the restaurant’s budget
  • Monitor revenues to determine labour cost – including knowledge about reducing staff size upon a reduction in clientele
  • Set staff work schedules according to the fluctuation of customers on certain times and days and monitor staff performance by assessing their skills regularly
  • Plan and organize daily operations – such as meetings with back-of-house staff, front-of-house staff, and be aware of adjustments that may need to be made as the day unfolds
  • Recruit and Train staff including how to greet customers, have menu knowledge (proper wine pairings for meals), receive payments, and ensuring cleanliness
  • Supervise staff – including assessing their performance by breaking down the positives of what they did and what they need to work
  • Determine the type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures
  • Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports, and related forms
  • Conduct performance reviews and lead/instruct individuals on improvement of performance
  • Cost products and services
  • Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  • Inspect, Organize, and Maintain inventory at the beginning and end of all shifts to ensure the restaurant has all necessities prior to the opening of the restaurant
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, including recognizing when proper signs need to be displayed, such as for wet floors
  • Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies
  • Participate in marketing plans and implementation – including social media platforms and their maintenance, along with consistently engaging for changes in specials menu, including creating promotional cocktails
  • Provide customer service and address customers’ complaints or concerns
  • Manage events – Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Charitable Events occur at the venue

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Any Discipline or Equivalent Work Experience

Experience: 8 years or more of hospitality management experience (local or abroad)

Language: English, Gaelic is an asset
