Cybersecurity is a critical issue in all areas of the maritime industry. Multiple control systems, protocols and standards, both onshore and offshore, sometimes operating independently, do little to build system resiliency. Adding to the risks is the advent of maritime autonomous technology and remote operations. The Fisheries and Marine Institute, in partnership with University of Plymouth and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), is hosting a seminar in St. John’s, NL to highlight and bring awareness to Canadian stakeholders of the risks of maritime cybersecurity and how to address them through collaborative education, training, and research.

Objectives:

  • To bring awareness of the cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities of Canada’s maritime sectors
  • To showcase the education, training, and research that can be utilized to address maritime cybersecurity
  • To bring together cybersecurity experts and maritime stakeholders to discuss areas for collaborative innovation to enhance Canada’s maritime resiliency

Day 1 (Sept 18, 2023) – Hear from experts in Canada and from around the world on cybersecurity challenges in the maritime industry
