The Global Mental Well-being & Substance (Mis)Use Conference GMWS 2023. The event will take place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada from August 11 – 13, 2023.
The theme of this year’s event is “Rest, Recovery & Resilience During & Beyond Pandemics” recognizes that racial trauma and triggers may contribute to mental stressors within people of the African diaspora. The conference is therefore important to design and implement culturally specific strategies geared towards resting, repairing and rejuvenating individual and community mental health and well-being.
The conference is organized by the New African Canadians (NAC) in partnership with View Global Services Inc., the Universities of PEI (Canada), and Illinois-Urbana (USA).
The GMWS 2023 as a premier global platform expects over 300 delegates from Canada and around the world to showcase outstanding contributions of community members, people with lived experience of mental health and addictions, people who experience marginalization related to the social determinants of health, service-users, service-providers, media and policy makers.
It is also a platform to develop personal, interdisciplinary and professional networks among national and international delegates in the field of advocacy, community health, recovery and wellness.
Note: There is no refund upon registration fees for international delegates unless the event is cancelled, postponed or rescheduled. Local delegates may exchange their spot for another delegate For more information, visit www.globalmws.org
