RCMP NL Marks National Police Week: One Uniform. Many Specialties.

Today marks the beginning of National Police Week 2020, a public education campaign that began back in 1970 as a way for the police to connect with their communities and to increase awareness about the services they provide.

year’s theme is One Uniform. Many Specialties. RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador is made up of exceptional front-line and behind the scenes personnel whose expertise and areas of specialty are diverse yet contribute collectively to the RCMP’s delivery of police services in communities throughout the province.

Front-line police officers, forensic analysts, major crime investigators, police dogs and their human partners, support personnel, bomb experts, criminal intelligence, the emergency response team, Indigenous policing, crisis negotiators, the Intimate Partner Violence unit, dispatchers, communications and media relations, serious and organized crime experts, the health and wellness team, traffic units, the internet child exploitation team, among others, are all RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador.

“The work and dedication of the police officers and all employees who serve the people and communities of this province is outstanding,” said Assistant Commissioner Ches Parsons, Commanding Officer of RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador. “We not only serve the community, we are the community. During Police Week, I encourage you to get to know your RCMP.”
