RCMP investigating hit and run that left one man injured

The Northeast District RCMP is investigating after hit and run collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation.

On May 12, 2019, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a 22-year-old man from the Elsipogtog First Nation was struck by a vehicle while walking along Micmac Road in the community of Esgenoôpetitj. The driver left the scene after the collision.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and he remains in hospital.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a red or orange SUV. Police are asking anyone with information, or who may have been in the area around the time of the collision to contact the Neguac RCMP at 506-393-3000. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimenb.ca.

The investigation is ongoing.
