NB Government: Death of an inmate in custody

FREDERICTON (GNB) – An inmate under custody with the provincial correctional system died following a fatal car pedestrian collision on Sept. 7 after having been given an early release. The sentence would have expired at midnight last night.

The inmate, 27-year-old Alisha Paul, was at home under early release conditions.

The highway collision is being investigated by the RCMP. As with all deaths of a person in custody, this will also be investigated by Coroner Services.

This information is being released in accordance with the Department of Justice and Public Safety’s policy regarding the death of an inmate in the custody of the provincial correctional system.
