Media Advisory – Governor General to Present Medal for Volunteers

OTTAWA—In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will present the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers to 42 individuals on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

The Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields. As an official Canadian honour, it also pays tribute to the dedication and exemplary commitment of volunteers.

The ceremony schedule, the recipients’ citations and a fact sheet are attached. For more information about the program or to nominate a deserving volunteer, visit caring.gg.ca.

Media wishing to cover the event are asked to confirm their attendance in advance with the Rideau Hall Press Office, and must arrive at the Princess Anne Entrance no later than 10:15 a.m. on the day of the ceremony.
