Federal funding program to assist unemployed First Nations members with skills training – Daily Business Buzz

TRURO HEIGHTS – Federal funding was announced on Tuesday for skills training aimed at off-reserve aboriginal youth.

“Through the aboriginal skills and employment training strategy, or assets, we’re helping aboriginal people to get those skills and training that they need to secure meaningful employment and build better futures for themselves and for their families,” said Scott Armstrong, area MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister of Labour.

“It’s important to invest in education and training for Aboriginal People so they can take advantage of growing opportunities …,” Armstrong said, during an announcement held at the Native Council of Nova Scotia office in Truro Heights.
